The Assessment and Early Remediation Branch (AER) is responsible for the following functions within the Commission: Serious Incident Reporting Scheme (SIRS), Aged Care Code of Conduct, Provider Change and Governance and Prudential Supervision. The latter three functions sit within the Provider and Worker Suitability Section (PWS). The Branch also includes a corporate support Section. The Code of Conduct Team within PWS, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of persons accessing aged care services. The primary focus is on workers' behavior and whether it aligns with the Aged Code of Conduct (the Code) and the required behaviors of workers. The Team is responsible for routinely analysing intelligence and information to identify and respond to patterns of conduct and risk and conduct that may be inconsistent with the Code. Additionally, the team provides case specific advice to other Commission internal business units regarding the Commission's response to information about conduct inconsistent with the Code, including when a matter may need to be escalated for consideration of Code investigation, or compliance and enforcement action. The Code Team initiates low to medium risk regulatory action by issuing reminder of responsibilities and caution letters to workers who have been identified as not meeting their obligations under the code of conduct. Purpose of position: The Assistant Director will be responsible for three discrete functions: managing a team of data officers responsible for data managing trend analysis related to aged care workers' conduct; managing the code of conduct inbox; reporting and recruitment. The key duties of the position include Reporting to the Director, Provider and Worker Suitability Section, you will be responsible for: Managing a team of data officers responsible for data matching and trend analysis of aged care workers to identify concerning worker behaviour. Managing the Code of Conduct Inbox team responsible for: Creating CCMS or ACRES cases for internal and external referrals and correspondence. Noting that at this stage information only cases need to be created in CCMS. Actioning requests for information from external stakeholders such as AHPRA, NDIS, OHO, State based worker screening units, other regulators (State and Federal) and registered providers. Using ACRES to create referrals to Enforcement and Provider Approvals via the Risk Intelligence and Analysis (RIA) Team. Scanning media sources for aged care worker code of conduct incidents and ensuring relevant parties are aware of these incidents and redistribute the 'Daily Media Briefings' to the Director and Assistant Directors in the Provider and Worker Suitability Section with specific matters of interest. Reviewing the NDIS banning order list for new orders (on workers and approved providers) and prepare correspondence for the Director to sign seeking information from NDIS about these orders. Preparing releases of information under S537 of the Aged Care Act 2024. Preparing ad hoc reports for the Director, Code of Conduct Team. Preparing correspondence to internal and external stakeholders. Working with Commission business units to analyse data and intelligence to identify sector trends in relation to the Code and identify opportunities for sector education or external communications on areas of practice or issues relating to regulation of the Code. Engaging with external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities (such as the NDIS Commission, AHPRA) to facilitate information sharing (including exchanging information around outcomes / enforcement action as appropriate), within the parameters of any MOUs and legislation. Developing support materials such as knowledge pages, work instructions, task cards, FAQs, and any other support material; and contribute to lessons learnt, knowledge, and skills development, as required. Scheduling and Minuting Code Team meetings. Managing and delivering reports including: Senate Estimates Briefs, Annual Reports, monthly branch requirements, ad hoc reports for the code team and assisting with Section recruitment.
