This is a permanent position. Qualifications & Experience To be successful in this role, applicants should have: Qualification assessed at AQF Bachelor degree or higher in a highly relevant field of study Minimum 2-3 years of skilled work experience Must have mix of practical horticultural skills (soil health, planting, pest control, watering, harvesting), operational skills (equipment use, planning, record-keeping), and business acumen (marketing, budgeting, if commercial). Key Responsibilities The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for: Plan, organise and manage hydroponic vegetable production using cocopeat grow bags within a small–medium scale commercial greenhouse operation. Develop crop programs for tomatoes, cucumbers, capsicum and leafy greens, including planting cycles, yield targets and harvest schedules to ensure year-round supply. Prepare and maintain cocopeat bags, including hydration, buffering, drainage management and correct plant spacing for different crop varieties. Design, operate and monitor drip irrigation and fertigation systems, adjusting nutrient delivery to suit crop growth stages and seasonal conditions. Regularly test and control pH, EC, moisture content and nutrient runoff to maintain optimal root-zone conditions in cocopeat media. Supervise seedling selection, propagation and transplanting into cocopeat bags to ensure uniform crop establishment and high productivity. Monitor plant health, growth rates and fruit development, identifying nutrient deficiencies, pests or diseases and implementing corrective action promptly. Apply integrated pest and disease management strategies suitable for greenhouse hydroponic crops while maintaining food safety and biosecurity standards. Manage greenhouse climate controls, including temperature, humidity, ventilation and lighting, to optimise growing conditions across all crop types. Coordinate harvesting, grading and packing of vegetables to meet market specifications, quality standards and customer requirements. Maintain accurate records of production outputs, nutrient usage, irrigation schedules, crop performance and yields for operational and compliance purposes. Supervise and train farm workers in hydroponic growing techniques, safe equipment use and quality control procedures. Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, environmental and food safety regulations applicable to commercial vegetable production. Liaise with suppliers, agronomists and management to source inputs, improve productivity and introduce efficiencies within the hydroponic operation.
