About the Team/Organisation:The Passenger Rollingstock and Signalling Branch is delivering and managing rollingstock and signalling projects that are innovative, integrated, and accessible to meet the growing demand for rail services in South East Queensland. As a Principal Advisor (Rollingstock), you will provide specialist technical advice on operations and maintenance for the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) and other projects within the Rail Division portfolio. Some of your responsibilities will include:- Proactively provide technical support, advice and expertise to the team to meet contract obligations.- Prepare, review and analyse technical data from multiple sources and various reporting tools to provide expert advice to the delivery and management of the commercial contract including any variations.- Undertake technical activities throughout the different phases of the program including supporting the Manager, operating as the key interface between the State and the Contractor and Operator, supporting discrepancy resolution, developing and reviewing reports for stakeholders on contract performance.- Review and provide recommendations on technical requests, strategies, proposals and reports from the Contractor and Operator.- Undertake assurance activities to ensure Contractor and Operator are meeting their contract obligations and provide regular reporting to this effect. Mandatory qualifications and conditions:- 5 of more years' experience working in a heavy rail environment or skills readily transferable to passenger rollingstock.- A relevant Electrical or Systems Engineering or technical degree, whilst not mandatory, would be highly regarded. Requirements of the role:- Ability to understand and interpret Engineering and Technical Reports and Drawings to facilitate technical discussions between the Operator, Contractor and any other relevant Stakeholders.- Effective time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritise projects and tasks efficiently, in line with team and project commitments.- Communicate in a clear and deliberate matter, adjusting the style so resonates with different stakeholders.- Support others by providing timely information within area of expertise in an articulate manner in both a technical and nontechnical manner.- Embrace new ideas and innovation to inform future practice.
