Role Purpose The Networking Engineer provides senior-level technical leadership for the design, integration, sustainment, and assurance of deployed Defence communication networks operating beyond the Defence Strategic Network. The role ensures deployed networks remain secure, resilient, and operationally effective in austere and mission-critical environments. Key Responsibilities Analyse and report on existing network technologies, architectures, and topologies Design network requirements for deployed and mission systems Evaluate candidate networking solutions against operational, security, and performance criteria Lead network integration activities across multiple projects Identify, analyse, and resolve network deficiencies and risks Support cybersecurity accreditation including Authority to Connect / Operate Produce engineering documentation, reports, and design artefacts Deliverables Network design and integration artefacts Technical evaluation and analysis reports Accreditation and assurance documentation Engineering lifecycle reports Enterprise and deployed network design (WAN/LAN, secure comms) Defence ICT environments and constrained operational networks Cyber security integration and accreditation support Stakeholder engagement across engineering and operational teams Mandatory Requirements NV2 clearance Experience in Defence or comparable secure environments Ability to work onsite in Canberra
