Kelly Partners Northern Beaches Partnership is searching for Business Services Accountant . The position is full time, based in Brookvale, NSW and offers a base salary of $98,214.28 p.a. Position Responsibilities Prepare compliance based financial reporting and accounting documentation for clients Complete income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and super funds within the assigned deadline and productivity target. Broad understanding of income tax, family tax benefit, company tax, fundamentals of trust law and superannuation provisions. Advise clients on record keeping obligation and prepare clients' income tax returns: Prepare reconciliation of net profit to taxable income noting permanent and timing differences and calculate the tax payable. Perform relevant calculations and complete schedule. Recognise capital gains transactions and calculate liability. Identify the correct tax treatment for prepayments, accruals and provisions. Identify the required tax adjustments, accurately calculate tax liability for the year and recognise instalments already paid. Knowledge of superannuation including taxation and regulatory issues. Identify if clients have complied with the superannuation guarantee. Prepare annual workers compensation reconciliations, annual payroll tax reconciliations, Business Activity Statements (BAS), Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) returns including the calculation of liability from the information provided by clients. Use work paper procedures and can provide documentation to support the return. Prepare accurate financial accounts without direction and with minimal review points. Able to identify any inconsistencies in the current year balances through comparative analysis on balance sheet items. Able to prepare financial statements from an adjusted trial balance, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and statements of retained earnings. Ability to access and research information, including the use of electronic sources (e.g. OSR and ATO websites). Able to complete accurate GST reconciliations using monthly or quarterly reports from accounting software and prepare activity statements on both cash and accrual bases, with a strong understanding of when GST applies. Able to identify and verify all common tax‑sensitive items, including legal fees, entertainment, repairs and maintenance, fines, and penalties. Able to apply advanced knowledge of key tax regimes such as Division 7A, PSI alienation rules, non‑commercial loss provisions, and capital gains tax, including complex CGT calculations. Able to interpret the tax implications of various entity structures and apply understanding of income tax, company tax, trust law fundamentals, and superannuation provisions while working within high‑level financial reporting requirements Able to reconcile shareholder loan account movements, identify Division 7A debit loan issues with practical solutions, assess tax risk, and conduct research to resolve complex client matters. Requirements Minimum of 4 years' experience in an accounting or audit role Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar Chartered Accountant or Chartered Tax Accountant qualification Experienced using accounting software, including MYOB AE and Xero Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Committed to providing exceptional service to our clients Proactive, self-motivated and enthusiastic
