The Market Research Unit (MRU) is looking for a strategic and experienced leader to oversee complex communication and behavioural research projects. The role involves managing a multidisciplinary team, building relationships with senior clients and stakeholders, and ensuring the quality of research outputs. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading research projects in a government or large organisational context, strong analytical and communication skills, and a deep understanding of behavioural insights and research methodologies. This role involves providing expert research, analysis and advice to inform communication campaign development, strategic communication projects and policy development. This position requires the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment. The key duties of the position include Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Market Research Unit, ensuring alignment with departmental and government priorities. Oversee the management and delivery of complex communication and behavioural research projects. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of high performance and professional development. Build and maintain strong relationships with senior departmental clients, research companies, and key stakeholders. Oversee procurement and contract management for research services. Ensure the quality and integrity of research outputs, including reports, presentations, and infographics. Provide high-level advice to the Assistant Secretary, Communication Strategies and Campaigns Branch, and other senior executives. Represent the branch and the department in high-level forums, committees, and external engagements. Prepare and review government briefings, ministerial correspondence, and strategic documents. Drive innovation and continuous improvement in research methodologies and practices.
