About the role We are looking for a Senior Coordinator to lead the coordination of Academic Surgery events, committees and scholarship evaluation activities. This role works closely with the General Manager, RAAS and supports a complex portfolio that is undergoing redevelopment and requires strong coordination, sound judgement and well-documented processes.Reporting to the General Manager, RAAS, you will be responsible for the effective planning, delivery and continuous improvement of Academic Surgery activities across RACS. Key responsibilities include: Managing Academic Surgery events, including the Annual Research Congress and DCAS, from initial planning through to delivery and post-event reconciliation. Developing proposed event budgets, monitoring expenditure and supporting sponsorship activity in collaboration with internal teams. Working closely with organising committees, chairs and convenors, including drafting programs and supporting decision-making. Providing executive-level support to Academic Surgery committees as required. Supporting the coordination and delivery of all Academic Surgery activities to ensure high-quality outcomes for internal and external stakeholders. Producing RACS Research Scholarship evaluation surveys and reports, and preparing recommendations for the Academic Surgery Committee and Scholarship and Grants Committee. Supporting the General Manager, RAAS across broader academic activities. Maintaining current knowledge of RACS systems to ensure smooth delivery of events and communications. Contributing to the development and documentation of efficient processes in a redeveloping area. Supporting additional Academic Surgery activities as required. The role is ongoing and part time (0.8 FTE). About the team The Academic Surgery function sits within Operations & Partnerships and works across RACS to support research, academic engagement and collaboration within the surgical community in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. You will work closely with: Academic Surgery Committee members and chairs Event organising committees and convenors Scholarship and Grants teams Marketing and Communications, IT, and Conference & Events teams The team values collaboration, practical problem-solving and a strong commitment to service and quality outcomes. About you You are an organised and confident professional who can work autonomously while building strong relationships across a diverse stakeholder group. You are comfortable managing complex activities, competing deadlines and senior-level interactions. You will bring: Tertiary qualifications in a health science related discipline, ideally with postgraduate research qualifications. Experience planning and managing activities or events, preferably in a health, academic or professional environment. Experience working effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders. Experience supporting committees, including preparation and follow-up. Experience developing and applying policies, procedures or processes in consultation with stakeholders. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Well-developed problem-solving skills and sound judgement. A strong customer service ethic and commitment to high-quality service delivery.
