The Role An opportunity has become available for a Peer Worker (Identified Lived Experience - Alcohol and Other Drugs) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia. You will Provide peer support, practical assistance, education, information and referrals to consumers, to support their personal recovery journey. Support the planning, facilitation and evaluation of peer support groups, educational programs and other activities for consumers that foster social inclusion and recovery Support consumers to develop individual recovery plans which incorporate their self-identified recovery goals, aspirations and strengths Exhibit effective interpersonal and consultation skills to work collaboratively with consumers, multidisciplinary health care teams, service providers and Non-Government Organisations About you To be successful in this position you will require: Previous experience working within a public mental health service or the community sector in a Peer Worker, or other relevant Mental Health Lived Experience role would be well regarded It is highly desirable that applicants hold the Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work or can demonstrate that they are working towards the same Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost) Benefits Flexible work options Career Development Salary Packaging Modern Facilities Diverse Work Culture Research Opportunities 12.75% super 17.5% leave loading Salary Permanent part time (38hrs p.f) Base salary ranging from $38.81 - $43.16 per hour About Us The Alcohol and Other Drugs Service Peer Worker provides a responsive program of recovery-oriented peer support, education, and information for consumers, families and carers.
