Red Cross Patient Transport program supports older and vulnerable Australians who lack safe, regular transport to their non-urgent health appointments. Our door-to-door transport service helps clients achieve better health outcomes, reinforces their independence, and helps them remain safely in their own homes longer. Red Cross Patient Transport runs on weekdays with regular weekly or fortnightly shifts. Our reliable, friendly volunteers help clients get to appointments on time, reduce travel stress, and support their independence. The opportunity We are looking for dependable volunteers who can relate to and empathise with a diverse range of people, including those from different cultural backgrounds and life experiences. Key Requirements and Your Commitment: Be willing to join a nationwide team delivering social inclusion program within Aged and Community Care. Operate our Red Cross vehicles to transport one or multiple clients per trip, locally and regionally, if required. Use of mobile applications (Apps) to support safe and timely service delivery Adhere to established work practices relevant to the program. Provide a safe, courteous, and respectful transport experience Ability to place light mobility aids (approx. 10-12 kgs) in the boot of a vehicle. Engage in conversation and activities that are appropriate to the client or group. Respect the privacy, rights, and dignity of clients and maintain confidentiality with respect to information obtained during the delivery of service. Record timely and appropriate documentation of your interactions with clients. Maintain clear professional relationships and respect clear boundaries to safeguard the well-being of the client and yourself. Participate in mandatory learning and development to keep your knowledge, skills, and practices up-to-date in the aged and community care sector. Commit to upholding the principles outlined in the Aged Care Code of Conduct and any subsequent updates. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity by respecting diverse backgrounds and ensuring that all interactions are inclusive and free from discrimination Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network. Application requirements: All volunteers will be required to undertake a National Police Check, which will be organised through Red Cross. A current full Australian driver’s licence and an excellent driving record.
