ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a Legal Counsel with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to join our high-performing Legal team. This role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of work — from complex commercial contracts and technology procurements to regulatory, privacy, and corporate governance matters. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide solutions-focused legal advice that supports IDX’s growth and operational excellence. You will also play a key role in building our legal knowledge base and strengthening compliance frameworks across the organisation. This position requires a proactive mindset, excellent analytical ability, and the confidence to engage with senior management and operational teams across the organisation. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Provide clear, practical and commercially sound legal advice to senior management and internal stakeholders across a broad range of corporate and operational matters. Review, draft and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including technology and supply procurements, service level agreements and leases. Apply critical thinking to identify legal and commercial risks and develop pragmatic business-focused solutions. Ensure ongoing compliance with internal controls, statutory regulations, and company policies. Support the management of claims, disputes, patient injury claims, and litigation. Advise on privacy data protection, regulatory compliance matters, including investigations and responses to regulators. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the healthcare sector and maintain IDX’s legal knowledge base. Develop and deliver legal and compliance training to business units. Collaborate closely with the Risk and Compliance and Quality teams to ensure legal advice aligns with corporate governance and operational objectives. ABOUT YOU You’re a motivated, intellectually curious lawyer who enjoys applying legal rigour to real-world business problems. You think critically, draft precisely and communicate clearly. Qualifications and experience Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and current Australian practising certificate Minimum 2-4 years’ post-admission experience, ideally gained in a mid to top-tier law firm, reputable boutique firm, or a corporate in-house environment. Strong foundation in corporate and contract law, with demonstrated expertise in contract review, drafting and negotiation. Proven ability to effectively manage matters from end-to-end, with professionalism and attention to detail Confident in advising senior stakeholders and balancing legal risk with commercial outcomes. Excellent communication and analytical skills, with sound professional judgement. Familiarity with privacy, healthcare, or regulatory compliance frameworks (advantageous but not essential).
