About the work unit / facility The Neurosurgery Department at Townsville University Hospital (TUH) provides regional neurosurgical services to a North Queensland population of 800,000. The team includes five consultant neurosurgeons, two advanced trainees, five PHOs, two Senior House Officers and rotating interns. Inpatients are managed in a dedicated neurosurgery ward, supported by five all‑day operating lists with case volumes increasing in recent years. The department operates with contemporary equipment, including neuro‑navigation, spinal O‑Arm technology and access to a hybrid theatre. (L2-L3) 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation Regional and rural attraction allowance Professional development assistance (allowance, PD leave, and exam leave) On-call and shift allowances (where applicable) Plus great salary packaging options About your opportunity Deliver medical care under the supervision and direction of Registrars and senior medical staff. Conduct patient interviews and examinations, identifying clinical problems as they arise. Arrange investigations, surgical treatment, medical treatment and discharge as directed by the Registrar and/or Consultant. Requirements: Successful completion of Medical Internship. Degree qualification from a recognised tertiary institution, with current registration or eligibility for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia. Participate in shift rosters (including on call shifts) . Up to three (3) months may be spent relieving in other hospitals in the region. Please refer to the Role Description for further details.
