Job Description The Health, Safety and Well-being Lead is responsible to coach and lead the health, safety, environment, and wellbeing function to educate and support the business leaders in their areas of responsibility to empower individuals to create a safe, healthy, and sustainable work environment. The role ensures that the Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing Management System (HSEWMS) is in place by ensuring strategies, policies, procedures, and risk mitigation controls are developed, reviewed, implemented, and monitored within their area of responsibility. Key Responsibilities Coaching, Leadership & Culture Coach and mentor employees at all levels to embed best practice in health, safety, environment and wellbeing (HSEW). Influence positive behavioural change by promoting proactive risk identification, safe decision-making, and a strong safety culture. Provide practical support to teams in resolving HSEW issues, hazards, and wellbeing concerns. Support local leaders in implementing HSEW objectives aligned to the broader organisational strategy. Health, Safety, Environment & Wellbeing Management Identify, assess and mitigate HSEW risks across operations, guiding the development of safe systems of work, standards, SOPs and risk controls. Ensure compliance with all relevant HSEW legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards. Promote employee wellbeing initiatives supporting mental health, physical health, and workplace wellness. Foster a workplace culture of care, accountability, and continuous improvement. Communication, Engagement & Training Engage internal and external stakeholders to reinforce HSEW expectations in line with the HSEW Management System and company values. Deliver, coordinate and support training programs, toolbox talks, and safety communications. Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and ensure training remains current, risk-based, and effective. Incident Management & Continuous Improvement Lead and support incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions. Oversee emergency preparedness, response planning, and related training activities. Establish feedback loops to assess the effectiveness of HSEW programs and drive continuous improvement. Monitor and report on HSEW performance, incidents, trends, and strategic safety plans. Audits, Compliance & Governance Coordinate and manage internal and external HSEW audits, ensuring actions are tracked, completed, and verified. Monitor HSEW KPIs to ensure duty of care obligations are met and performance outcomes are achieved. Ensure effective use of digital safety systems, including follow-up of actions and compliance monitoring. Manage contractor HSEW compliance, including audits and corrective actions. Audit facilities maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Strategic Projects & Organisational Support Lead and support key HSEW projects aligned with organisational strategy, including safety, wellbeing, and environmental initiatives. Support organisational change initiatives to ensure HSEW objectives remain embedded during periods of transition. Chair or manage local HSEW committees, ensuring active participation in risk reviews and safety planning. Prepare and deliver regular HSEW reports, including monthly reporting, for senior leadership. Provide administrative and operational support as required by the General Manager – Health, Safety & Wellbeing.
