About the Opportunities These roles contribute directly to the planning, delivery, and renewal of essential civil assets including roads, drainage systems, kerbs, culverts, pipes, bridges, and associated municipal infrastructure. Opportunities exist for both experienced engineers and seasoned senior leaders ready to guide teams, oversee major projects, and influence long-term infrastructure strategy. Main Responsibilities These positions may include responsibility for: Oversee road construction, maintenance, and renewal projects Managing the planning and delivery of capital works and renewal programs Overseeing construction, quality assurance, contract management, and on-site coordination Work on Stormwater, drainage, bridges, culverts and other civil assets Ensuring compliance with policies, legislative requirements, and the Infrastructure Design Manual (IDM) Leading and mentoring staff, engineers, and technical teams (for senior-level roles) Contribute to long term infrastructure strategies Skills and Experienc Depending on the role level, councils are seeking candidates with: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field 5 years of experience in roads and civil infrastructure delivery (minimum) Up to 12 years of experience for senior and leadership positions Strong technical capability across roads, drainage, kerbs, culverts, pipes, and civil assets Knowledge of IDM, Austroads, Australian Standards, surveying processes, estimation techniques, and site inspections Project management experience, including preparing plans, reports, and budgets Ability to coordinate contractors, consultants, and internal teams Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills A current driver licence Engineers Australia membership and NER eligibility are highly regarded Benefits Relocation support for successful candidates (according to Council terms) Comprehensive relocation assistance (WorkStay STAY Program) Major civil and community-focused project involvement Leadership, development, and career progression pathways About WorkStay WorkStay are regional recruitment specialists and connect skilled professionals with rewarding careers across regional Australia.
