Responsibilities Reporting to the Vice President of Growth & Development, your primary focus will be to work collaboratively to build, maintain and strengthen valued customer relationships to secure opportunities that provide the greatest probability of success for the business, and actively promote the Wood brand. In this highly visible role, you will partner with colleagues in Growth & Development, Subject Matter Experts and Wood’s Regional Leadership to drive an aligned and structured approach to business development across the Oceania region within the Materials sector. In addition, you will be responsible for: Market & Client Development Identify, validate, and pursue high-potential opportunities across the mining and chemicals sectors. Build and expand relationships with strategic clients. Support participation in and renewal of framework agreements (e.g. track competitor contract expirations for proactive positioning. Opportunity Identification & Positioning Lead the Identify phase in Wood’s Growth & Development Framework, ensuring opportunities are qualified early and pursued strategically. Leverage intelligence, competitor benchmarking, and client insights to build compelling win strategies and value propositions. Align internal technical expertise and partner networks to strengthen pursuit positioning. Competitive Landscape & Partnerships Maintain a deep understanding of competitors and their strengths, pricing models, and local partnerships. Build partnerships within industry to maximize Wood’s chances in multi-phase or large-scale project tenders. Client-Focused Negotiation & Tender Support Work closely with the proposal and commercial teams to support contract negotiations, ensuring alignment with client objectives and commercial frameworks. Engage with clients during the tendering process to address queries, refine pricing strategies, and improve technical alignment. Maintain a customer-centric approach throughout pursuit stages, ensuring client satisfaction and improved win probability. Account Management & Financial Delivery Lead strategic account management initiatives to strengthen client relationships and ensure long-term satisfaction and retention. Develop and execute account plans aligned with client objectives and Wood’s business goals. Identify cross-selling opportunities to maximize account value and support sustainable growth. Customer Relationship Management, Governance & Reporting Maintain all opportunity records in Wood’s Customer Relationship Management, ensuring full accuracy and compliance with governance procedures. Support leadership in forecasting, pipeline management, and business planning. Participate in Wood’s Lead Review Meetings reviews, ensuring strategic alignment of pursuits with risk appetite. Promote a strong compliance culture in line with Wood’s Business Ethics and Risk Management standards. Qualifications What makes you remarkable? Expected: You will be able to work lawfully in Australia and hold full working rights for this location. Ideally, you will be suitably qualified from a recognised institution and have built a successful career within the Minerals, Metals, Chemicals and Heavy Industry sectors in Western Australia. You will also have relevant experience in leadership roles coupled with an understanding of major project lifecycle - from establishment to execution. You are a relationship builder with a career as diverse as it is deep. You will have an established and broad reaching network across the Materials portfolio of Mining & Chemicals (particularly Western Australia & Northern Territory) and have proven experience introducing innovative models / solutions that have delivered client value. In addition, you will: Be customer focused with a proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth Have a demonstrated understanding of customer needs and a consulting framework and able to translate those needs into effective strategies to deliver successfully and secure new work Have excellent commercial acumen, with an ability to negotiate with clients to secure contractual frameworks that aligns with business strategy and client needs, requirements, delivering to long term partnership Be an articulate communicator (both written and verbal) with an ability to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups, including professional presentation skills Have a “solutions mindset” with a capacity for persistence and resilience, while being able to consistently deliver within a complex environment Have an ability to travel when required and a commitment to engaging with clients, prospective partners and representing Wood at industry events and forums Have previous experience leading people, capable of engendering an entrepreneurial spirit of cooperation and trust to energise diverse functional and technical teams to contribute to the competitive advantage of teamwood Desirable: What will set you apart will be your proven experience in a similar role partnering with clients from juniors to tier one majors, from concept development through project execution in an EPCM contractual model.
