Position Overview: As a Transport Coordinator you play a key role in supporting the efficient, reliable, and cost-effective movement of goods across the network. Your responsibilities include nurturing carrier relationships, coordinating transport schedules, and aligning first-mile and middle-mile logistics with last-mile delivery needs. You will work cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, and Customer Service teams to drive service reliability, reduce delays, and support scalable transport solutions. This role also includes overseeing asset and equipment management across the first and middle mile to ensure accurate tracking, condition monitoring, and availability of transport assets, as well as delivering operational reporting to management that provides visibility into network performance, KPIs, and continuous improvement opportunities. In this role, you’ll focus on route optimisation, carrier performance, and cost control, while ensuring compliance with safety and service standards. Your ability to balance day-to-day coordination with strategic planning will be key to maintaining a high-performing and resilient logistics network. Key Responsibilities: Carrier Engagement : Build and maintain strong carrier relationships to ensure consistent performance, reliability, and adherence to service-level agreements. Assist in contract negotiations, renewals, and performance reviews to maintain competitive pricing and high service standards. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align first-mile, middle-mile, and last-mile logistics by coordinating with internal teams and departments to create a seamless delivery flow. Coordinate with Depot teams to ensure timely loading, unloading, and dispatch of goods. Performance Tracking: Monitor transport performance by tracking key metrics such as on-time delivery, cost per shipment, and carrier compliance to identify areas for improvement. Utilise transportation management systems and other logistics software to monitor shipments, track performance, and optimise delivery operations. Asset Tracking: Support asset and equipment management across first and middle mile, maintaining a detailed register of cages, ULDs, totes, scanners, and other transport assets. Oversee allocation, movement tracking, condition monitoring, periodic audits, and coordination of repairs or replacements. Reporting: Deliver operational reporting to Operations Management, preparing regular reports on first- and middle-mile performance and accuracy. Include defined KPIs (e.g. OTIF pick-ups, dispatch accuracy, departure adherence, scan/compliance rates, exceptions, cost/efficiency), providing insights and recommended actions. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of transport activities, including incident reports, delivery logs, and compliance records. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all safety, legal, and environmental regulations across transport operations to uphold company and industry standards. Solutions-focused: Support scalable transport solutions that accommodate business growth, seasonal demand, and evolving customer expectations. Continuous Improvement : Contribute to the development and implementation of transportation policies and procedures to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency. Required Qualifications and Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport, or a related field, preferred, not essential. Proven experience in transport or logistics with exposure to route optimisation and carrier performance. Understanding of Australian transport regulations, safety compliance, and chain of responsibility (CoR). Proficiency in transport management systems and data analysis for performance monitoring.
