The ideal applicant will be team-oriented, motivated, organised, and eager to develop additional skills in this area. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing high-quality external environments across an allocated area of the University. Key Responsibilities will include, but not limited to : Day to Day Grounds and Garden Care. General Labouring Duties. Plant and Vegetation Management. Landscaping and Maintenance duties around current and future buildings. This role will assist the UQ Gatton Grounds Supervisor in completing Quarterly and Yearly projects and goals. Essential Possession of a current open Queensland Driver’s Licence A commercial Operations Licence (pesticides) with an understanding of chemical calibration of equipment and application of pesticides Substantial experience in fault-finding, repairing grounds maintenance equipment and maintenance gardening with a genuine interest in plant identification. Proven ability to work with minimum supervision and in a team situation The ability to communicate/liaise with a large variety of stakeholders including University staff, students, and consultants Ability to follow SOP and OH&S Guidelines Desirable Qualifications and training equivalent to a Level 3 Certificate in Horticulture; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training The successful candidate may be required to complete background checks including: right to work in Australia, conduct concerning gender-based violence.
