About the organisation: This leading independent school, based in Sydney, is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the School’s buildings, grounds, contractors, and maintenance programs. A key role within the School, the Facilities Manager ensures the campus runs reliably, remains well-maintained, compliant, and aligned with long-term property and operational goals. This is a full-time, permanent position. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring work is safe, scheduled, and compliant. Develop and manage short- and long-term maintenance plans for the School’s assets. Manage site security and act as the main contact for after-hours incidents and emergencies. Provide advice on building condition, risks, and maintenance priorities to leadership. Coordinate and supervise contractors and service providers across trades, cleaning, and grounds, ensuring quality and budget compliance. Maintain and update safety and security processes, promoting a strong WHS culture. Monitor campus environmental conditions, including lighting, heating, and ventilation. Prepare property reports and implement recommendations from school committees. Liaise with councils, consultants, and external stakeholders on maintenance and compliance matters. Support emergency planning, drills, incident response, and business continuity. Improve facilities operations through process reviews and system enhancements. Manage minor capital works and refurbishment projects, including budgeting, contracts, and timelines. Oversee school holiday works programs, ensuring completion before term starts. Lead and develop the Facilities team, maintaining high standards of service. Manage procurement, purchase orders, quotes, suppliers, and budget tracking for facilities. Skills and Experience: Previous experience in facilities or property management in a school or similar multi-building environment. Strong understanding of WHS, compliance, and risk management frameworks. Ability to coordinate multiple contractors, manage competing priorities, and oversee maintenance cycles. Experience delivering small building projects or refurbishment works. Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions. Comfortable using digital systems and maintenance platforms. Valid Working With Children Check.
