About the Role As our Health & Safety Manager, you will lead the health, safety, and injury management function for our South Australian operations while providing key support to our Group Health and Safety Manager on enterprise-wide safety initiatives. This is a strategic and hands on leadership role where you'll be responsible for maintaining our self-insurance license, leading comprehensive safety programs, and partnering with operational leaders to embed a proactive safety culture across the site. Key Responsibilities Self-Insurance & Compliance Maintain compliance with South Australia's self-insurance license requirements Manage workers compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and regulatory reporting Monitor claims performance and maintain relationships with medical providers and insurers Safety Management & Risk Leadership Lead implementation of WHS management systems aligned with ISO 45001 Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and lead safety audits Develop site-specific safety standards, procedures, and training programs Injury Management Oversee early intervention and injury management to optimize recovery outcomes Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions Track and report on safety KPIs including TRIFR, LTIFR, and return-to-work performance Culture & Leadership Partner with Operations Leaders to build safety leadership capability Coach site leaders on safety accountabilities and drive engagement in safety initiatives What You'll Bring Essential: Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or related discipline Minimum 5 years' experience as a Health & Safety Manager in manufacturing Proven experience managing self-insurance obligations including claims management and ReturnToWorkSA compliance Strong audit experience including leading internal audits and driving corrective actions Comprehensive knowledge of South Australian WHS legislation and ISO 45001 ICAM investigations qualification and experience Personal Attributes: Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills Collaborative team player who builds effective relationships Pragmatic problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset Credible safety leader with integrity and accountability Why Join Detmold Group?
