The Role As part of the Birkenhead Reliability Team, we are seeking a trade-qualified Mechanical Technician / Boilermaker who takes pride in hands-on work, safe execution, and keeping heavy plant running reliably. This role suits a practical, mechanically minded tradesperson with strong experience in fixed plant maintenance, shutdown work, and heavy industry environments, who enjoys problem-solving on the tools while contributing to ongoing improvements in plant reliability and safety culture. You’ll work closely with experienced leaders and trades, with real ownership of your work and the opportunity to influence how maintenance is planned and executed. Responsibilities Lead by example in safety, quality, and environmental compliance Perform mechanical and boilermaker works on heavy fixed plant, including: Planned, preventative and predictive maintenance Shutdown maintenance and breakdown response Carry out repairs, replacements, and installations on mechanical equipment and structures Complete job reporting and planning tasks within the maintenance system Contribute practical continuous improvement ideas drawn from trade experience Support reliable plant operation through high-quality workmanship What you will need to succeed Trade qualified Mechanical Technician / Boilermaker (heavy industry or mining highly regarded) Strong experience working on fixed plant, rotating equipment, or heavy industrial assets High Risk Licence (Forklift, EWP required) Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights A strong safety mindset and pride in trade workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a skilled maintenance team Experience using maintenance systems (CMMS / ERP such as SAP) Willingness to participate in call-outs, shutdowns, and shift work Rigging / Dogging ticket desirable Experience supervising contractors during shutdowns desirable Good communication skills and a practical, solution-focused approach Our business Adbri Cement was formally known as Adelaide Brighton Cement.
