Specialties include Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Neuro & Cardiothoracic surgery, Gastroenterology, ENT, Urology, Oral/Maxillofacial, Ophthalmology, Robotics, & a number of sub-specialties. The theatres are equipped with contemporary technology and deliver high-quality, patient-centred care in a fast paced perioperative environment. Calvary Adelaide Hospital is seeking expressions of interest for Clinical Nurses to join our Perioperative Services team. This is a Level 2 role for a registered nurse & provides an opportunity to coordinate the safe and efficient delivery of surgical services in a supported environment within a complex, high-acuity operating suite. As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide hands-on coordination and clinical leadership during allocated shifts. You will oversee real-time theatre operations, manage patient flow, and respond to changing clinical and operational demands to ensure optimal utilisation of theatre resources and a safe patient journey. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate daily theatre operations during allocated shifts Manage patient flow, staff allocation and daily theatre utilisation Allocate and adjust staffing and resources to meet clinical and operational demands Act as the first point of escalation for operational, staffing, and clinical issues Support and guide perioperative staff on shift, promoting teamwork and safe practice Liaise closely with Clinical Managers and VMO’s including surgeons, anaesthetists and surgical assistants Ensure compliance with Calvary policies, safety standards, and infection control requirements Facilitate effective handover, reporting, and escalation processes About You: You are an experienced perioperative clinician with strong situational awareness, sound clinical judgement, and the ability to coordinate complex theatre activity in a high-demand environment. Essential Criteria: Current registration with AHPRA Recent experience in an operating theatre environment Demonstrated ability to coordinate theatre activity and lead shifts Excellent teamwork, communication, organisational, and decision-making skills Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple theatre areas Ability to work under pressure in a faced paced environment Desirable Criteria: Previous experience as a senior theatre RN and/or shift/floor coordinator Knowledge of theatre scheduling systems; both theatre sessions and staff Why work for Calvary?
