We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Head of Operations – Power Services to join us in our Power & Electricity Transmission Team in the Operations Division. This is a permanent full-time senior leadership role and can be based in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth. Reporting to the General Manager Power & Electrical Transmission, you will play a key role in leading the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of APA’s growing portfolio of power generation and electrical transmission assets, ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, and stakeholder value delivery. Key Responsibilities Oversee risk management, regulatory compliance, and assurance activities within power operations. Lead major overhauls and project management for power assets. Develop, implement, and maintain efficient standardised systems of work, aligned with the operational excellence framework. Ensure compliance with technical standards and regulatory requirements, including ISO 55000 alignment. Lead business continuity planning and disaster recovery processes. Own and manage power business forums and cross-business systems and coordination. Industry Experience You will be an experienced leader in the power generation energy sector, particularly, having managed medium to large-scale operational teams and complex energy infrastructure assets. Areas of operations will include combined and/or open cycle gas fired power stations. In-depth knowledge of permit to work, asset management principles and practices, as well as familiarity with the latest technologies and innovations in the energy industry. Demonstrated experience delivery major overhauls and outages, within a robust project management methodology. Regulatory Compliance and Budget Process: Understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in the energy sector to ensure all work complies with legal and safety requirements. Leadership Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams in high-risk, regulated environments. Strong track record in P&L ownership, budget management, and cost optimization. Demonstrated success in developing High Performance Teams supported by a strong safety culture. Technical & Strategic Skills Deep understanding of operational risk, HSEH frameworks, and compliance standards. Ability to drive continuous improvement, asset integration, and business continuity planning. Strategic thinker with the ability to align operations with broader business goals and energy transition objectives. Education & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Power Systems) or extensive relevant experience is essential. Postgraduate qualifications in Business Administration or Project Management is required. Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering Management or Leadership are advantageous.
