About the Role and NIR (Near Infra-Red Spectroscopy) We have an exciting opportunity for a NIR Quality Technician to join our team at the Mauri head office in Enfield. This role analyses Near Infrared Reflectance (NIR) test data from flour and feed mills nationwide, ensuring results are accurately maintained in our central database. You will work closely with the NIR Technical Manager and site teams to keep our NIR instruments calibrated and accurate. Near Infra-Red Spectroscopy (NIR) is a rapid, non-destructive testing technique used at Mauri to measure key quality parameters such as Moisture, Protein, Ash and other performance indicators. NIR provides results in seconds with minimal sample preparation, supporting routine quality control, process monitoring, and production decision-making. It plays a critical role in maintaining consistent product quality and optimising performance through regular calibration, verification, and bias adjustment. You'll be responsible for: Consolidating NIR test data from multiple milling sites and compare it with lab results. Identify any out-of-spec results and coordinate re-tests or instrument checks as needed. Assisting necessary updates and maintenance of existing NIR calibration models for various products. Working with site Quality teams to resolve any NIR issues quickly through clear communication regarding NIR performance trends and basic troubleshooting. About You The suitable candidate will possess: An appreciation of data accuracy with experience on large data sets. An understanding of laboratory or quality control processes. The ability to work with specialised software. A curious and analytical mindset with a strong attention to detail. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to a range of stakeholders in simple terms A scientific background with a degree in Science or Engineering (required).
