You will have demonstrated expertise in policy development, strong analytical capabilities, and a solid understanding of government processes. This role focuses on translating complex issues into clear, evidence-based advice and driving impactful change through strategic policies and innovative solutions. You will engage diverse stakeholders, foster innovation, and create a culture of learning and continuous improvement to help deliver reforms that benefit the Victorian community. Main Accountabilities Formulate evidence-based policy options and provide clear advice and strategic recommendations. Analyze complex policy issues and emerging trends to inform decision making. Develop clear policy briefs and government recommendations on highly complex issues. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders to ensure effective policy implementation. Manage areas or initiatives with significant budget, staff responsibilities, or strategic importance. The Team The position of Senior Policy Officer forms a part of the TAFE Strategy, Systems and Tertiary Governance branch within the Skills and TAFE group. The TAFE Strategy, Systems and Tertiary Governance branch plays a leadership role in governance and reform of the Victorian TAFE Network. Focusing on strategic system design, quality improvements, and engagement with industry, the branch develops policy initiatives and oversees key areas like TAFE network courseware, Centres of Excellence, and targeted industry workforce strategies. It ensures alignment with government priorities while promoting continuous improvement and positive outcomes for Victorian students, industries, and communities. About You We're seeking a strategic thinker with: Strong experience in designing and developing public policy options supported by evidence and clear narratives. The ability to define project governance structures, monitor progress, and adapt systems to meet changing priorities. A demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders effectively and ensure that policy outcomes meet community and organisational needs. Additionally, you will bring sound analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and experience in linking systems-level thinking with real-world outcomes in policy development.
