With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hourâs drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourneâs North is fast becoming the place to be.   Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Director of Operations to join the Outpatients Team.  Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.  Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.  About the Role: The Director of Operations, reports to the Divisional Director of Community Hospitals and Outpatient Services and is responsible for the operational, financial and quality management of outpatient services. Working with key stakeholders including the Executive and leadership team, Medical Director of Outpatient Services, Divisional Directorâs, NUMâs, Clinical and Nursing teams, Administration Staff and Heads of units. This role will continuously review and improve the operations of the services. This is a leadership position, important to the delivery of efficient and safe clinical care in outpatient care across all sites at Northern Health.     The Operations Director, Outpatient Services leads a multidisciplinary team with the primary aim of ensuring timely, high quality and effective patient-centred care to patients referred to Northern Health Outpatient Clinics.  Together with the Medical Director of Outpatient Clinics, the Operations Director will set the vision and strategy for this service and will work collaboratively with the Head of Units, Nursing staff and administration staff in ensuring a safe, efficient and high-quality outpatient service.  This role is responsible for: Development and delivery of strategic and operational goals Coordinating diverse a multi-disciplinary workforce required for an effective Outpatient service including Nursing and Administrative Staff Ensuring Quality and Safety processes and compliance to relevant national and hospital key performance indicators and standards in Outpatient Clinics. This includes all matters relating to Outpatient facilities, IT application support, Space Management, Administration services and staff and patient conduct Ensuring efficient operations of Outpatient Clinics including the maintenance of outpatient facilities, IT system used in outpatients (e.g. Q Flow and IPM) as well smooth operational workflow and patient interactions Provide operational leadership to nursing and administration staff, and ensure compliance with relevant mandatory training and EBA requirements. Financial accountability/responsibility for the outpatient clinic operations Supports and facilitates the expansion of services for outpatient care Executive On-Call roles and responsibilities  To be successful in this role you will have: Experience and good working knowledge of strategic and operational planning of outpatients and public health organisational services Proven ability to lead successful services and produce high performing teams. Attract and develop a high performing workforce, including nursing, administration and other support staff Demonstrated ability in outpatient activity targets, policy compliance and VINAH reporting Well-developed communication and stakeholder management skills Proven experience in development and coaching of staff Experience in management and delivering quality and improvement activities, including improving patient experience Ability to adopt a strategic approach to managing complex and challenging operational issues Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and evaluating initiatives within complex health environments.
