Litigation Specialist Job No: 678211 Sydney - Inner Suburbs & CBD Permanent Full Time Insurance, Legal Pay Band 4 Manage Section 66 and litigated claims Maintain a strong relationship with key parties within icare and adhere to any directives and reporting requirements Sydney CBD location / hybrid wfh About the role: The Litigation Specialist position involves managing permanent impairment and litigation aspects of Workers Compensation claims and assessing liability for alleged injuries and consequential conditions which impact permanent impairment. What you'll do (not limited to ): Effectively gather, investigate and assess evidence to make soundly based decisions Review independent medical assessments and ensure that they are accurate, adhere to relevant legislation and Guidelines, and appropriately address liability issues Ensure that injured workers receive fair compensation for permanent impairment and the ensuing threshold-based entitlements. Ensure employers interests are protected by appropriate investigation and preparation of evidence regarding liability, permanent impairment, and litigation Adhere to the model litigant policy while achieving quality assessment and remuneration targets Represent the insurer and/or provide instructions in legal proceedings before the Personal Injury Commission and Courts Manage litigated claims in accordance with icare and SIRA policies and procedures. What you'll bring: Degree or other tertiary qualifications in Law – preferred Experience in a technical role within personal injury insurance or 3 years in a Claims Advisor role (Workers Compensation or CTP) e.g., Technical Advisor, Technical Specialist, WPI & Litigation Specialist, IDR Specialist – required Experience in managing high risk claims areas such as litigation, WPI, Work Injury Damages, Section 39 claims, Internal Dispute Resolutions within the NSW Workers Compensation Scheme or CTP- required Experience in drafting and peer reviewing dispute notices – required Demonstrated understanding of current Workers Compensation Legislation – required Reasonable understanding of medical terminology – preferred.
