Job Description Reporting to the Director Community, this role provides the opportunity to lead Council’s economic development and tourism agenda, delivering strategic initiatives that drive investment, business growth and vibrant communities across the Shire. You will lead the development and implementation of Council’s Economic Development Strategy and Destination Management Plan, working closely with government, industry, business and community stakeholders to attract investment, grow visitation and strengthen local economies. This role will provide strategic leadership to a multidisciplinary team, fostering a positive, high-performing culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. You will oversee significant programs and initiatives, ensuring effective governance, financial management and the efficient use of resources, while delivering measurable economic and community outcomes. As a senior leader, you will build and maintain strong partnerships across Federal, State and Local Government, tourism bodies, industry groups, developers and community organisations. You will lead Council’s advocacy efforts for major economic development, tourism and infrastructure projects, securing funding, investment and strategic support. Working closely with internal teams, you will also drive marketing, visitor services, business support initiatives and event-based activations that enhance the Shire’s profile and economic sustainability.
