I have a future.” Impact you will have in this role As Senior Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering high-impact communications that bring ChildFund Australia’s purpose to life, with a strong focus on program and advocacy communications. You will develop engaging stories and content across digital and print channels that inform and inspire, ensuring children’s voices are represented with care, authenticity, and respect. Leading communications and media projects from concept through to execution, you will translate complex program and advocacy issues into accessible, compelling content for a wide range of audiences. Working closely with international country offices, you will support the amplification of locally led programs and advocacy priorities, ensuring communications are accurate, ethical, and aligned with ChildFund’s child safeguarding principles. You will also collaborate closely with colleagues across Australia, as well as external partners, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, to provide strategic guidance on both internal and external communications. This is a highly autonomous role suited to a proactive and curious professional who is comfortable working across both strategic planning and hands-on delivery. Experience or qualifications in international development, gained through professional roles or formal study, will be highly regarded. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and deliver communications content on time and to a high standard, working collaboratively to produce ethical, credible, and child-centred communications Produce compelling written and visual content that connects with and inspires ChildFund audiences Develop clear, plain-English marketing materials that translate complex information into accessible and impactful messaging Create engaging digital content, including infographics and video, to strengthen visibility and audience engagement Research, write and edit accurate reports, publications, and other communications materials Review and edit technical content and manage external suppliers such as writers, designers, and printers as needed Ensure all communications adhere to brand guidelines, organisational policies, and relevant sector standards Provide trusted communications advice to senior staff on both internal and external communications Skills and Experience Relevant tertiary qualifications, with proven experience in senior communications roles Strong writing and storytelling capability, including experience in journalism, research and interviewing Proven experience delivering public-facing content across digital and offline channels Solid understanding of the international development and Australian not-for-profit sectors, including communications compliance requirements High-level digital capability across graphic design, video editing, and publishing platforms Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to lead and support diverse, international teams Highly organised, meticulous, and adaptable, with a proactive, results-focused approach Passionate about international development and children’s rights Applications Please apply by uploading your resume.
