This position is part of Delivery – Places and Spaces professional trades area providing maintenance services for ACT Government owned or managed buildings including corrections facilities and ACT Housing properties. Delivery – Places and Spaces supports the development of new trades professionals through providing apprenticeships in the trades team. You will receive training and development in the identified trade and learn to diagnose and fix problems in buildings, recommend improvements and ensure that buildings meet the needs of the ACT Government and building users. This role is based primarily in the field working with qualified trade professionals to deliver work and reporting on progress and completion of jobs. We want people in the team that are willing to learn, deliver high quality work and provide good customer service. Property Service Operations provides expert property management and maintenance services to the ACT Government and the community. The Group manages and maintains buildings and property that enable the ACT Government to meet Government and community services needs. The Group supports the ACT Governments delivery of its services through flexible, efficient and cost-effective accommodation solutions and property services. Community services and support are also enabled through the provision of properties to community organisations at affordable rental rates. Property Service Operations on a fee for service basis with a requirement to provide a dividend to government. Eligibility/Other Requirements: This position requires: Eligibility to undertake an Australian Apprenticeship in the nominated field. Year 10 Certificate or equivalent Hold or have the ability to undertake training to obtain relevant certificates/cards including White card, Asbestos Awareness and if required Height Safety and Confined Space Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. Some building maintenance knowledge or experience and pre-apprenticeship course is desirable. Notes: This is a temporary position for the duration of the apprenticeship. If there is a vacant position available when the apprenticeship is successfully completed, you may be appointed permanently. If there are more successful apprentices, and there are vacancies, an internal merit process may be necessary. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is based in an activity-based working (ABW) environment. Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
