The YMCA NSW is one of the largest providers of gymnastics training across the NSW with over 4,000 weekly participants, and is a great start to every child's active and healthy lifestyle. Our fully qualified team of coaches teach the Australian Gymnastics curriculum to both kids and adults to develop strength, coordination, flexibility and confidence at all levels. About the Role: Are you passionate about gymnastics and eager to learn? This entry-level role is designed for young people who want to start their journey as a gymnastics instructor. As a mentee, you’ll work alongside experienced coaches, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment that values learning, safety, and fun. What You’ll Do: Assist coaches in delivering engaging gymnastics classes for children of all ages and abilities. Learn how to set up equipment safely and create a positive learning space. Support students with encouragement and clear instructions. Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and workshops to grow your skills. Complete tasks and learning activities provided by your mentor each week. Develop communication skills with gymnasts, parents, and team members. Progress toward your Beginner Gymnastics Coach Accreditation and beyond. What We’re Looking For: Enthusiasm for gymnastics and working with children. Qualities like patience, reliability, and a positive attitude . Willingness to learn and take feedback. Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all participants. Requirements: Enrolled in the YMCA Mentor Program OR Beginner Gymnastics Coach Accreditation. A reasonable level of fitness and willingness to perform physical tasks. Commitment to safeguarding children and young people (Working with Children Check if over 18).
