About the role The Finance Analyst will deliver month end results and commentary, as well as supporting the financial budgeting and forecasting operation for the Energy Markets & Development (EMD) business. This role will contribute to in-depth analysis and interpretation of the financial performance for the Energy Markets & Development - Gas Portfolio. What you'll be doing Post journals and record non-financial data as part of month-end close process Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for key GL accounts Prepare variance analysis and related commentary for actual result vs prior period and budget, forecast for inclusion in monthly performance reporting Provide monthly reporting and analysis of the financial performance to key stakeholders. Support in-depth analysis, understanding, interpretation and explanation of major drivers of the EMD financial performance Take initiatives to improve / streamline existing processes to achieve a shorter month-end timetable or better data quality Prepare disclosure packs for half yearly external reporting Respond to external auditor queries at half year and year-end Prepare variance analysis and related commentary for Cashflow & Balance Sheet Prepare data for adhoc external parties and regulators (e.g. ACCC, ABS, AER, ATO) Provide inputs to EMD reporting and other ad-hoc analysis as required by the business and Finance management Contribute to the achievement of the EMD financial objectives and targets by contributing effective and value-add commercial analysis to the team Support EMD Gas team on continuous Frame Gas development, including but not limited to results comparison and reconciliations Contribute to team meetings and team engagement initiatives Contribute to team strategy and deliver on continuous improvement initiatives What you'll bring CA/CPA/ACA qualified Experience of month-end close process Experience working with large complex data sets Exposure to trading environments or energy markets would be highly regarded Advanced user of Finance module of ERP (preferably SAP) Advanced user of MS office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Ability to pick up new concepts quickly and connect business drivers to financials Experience working collaboratively with internal stakeholders outside of direct team We'd love to see your application by: Wednesday 14 January 2026 At AGL, we offer a wide range of benefits including: Discounts on energy, telcos and solar plans.
