The role We’re seeking an experienced Mineralogy Manager to lead our Brisbane Mineralogy operations. Reporting to the General Manager – Australasia, you will oversee financial performance, drive service growth, strengthen industry engagement, and support the continued technical evolution of mineralogy services at ALS. The day to day In this role, you’ll: • Lead the Brisbane Mineralogy business with full P&L accountability • Partner with the Mineralogy Operations Manager to ensure efficient, compliant laboratory operations • Manage staffing, equipment resourcing, and workflow planning to support current and future needs • Build strong relationships with clients and promote ALS’s Mineralogy services across the resources sector • Prepare quotations, tenders, and proposals for complex mineralogy programs • Represent ALS at conferences and industry events to position our services as market-leading • Deliver market intelligence, identify new service opportunities, and support strategic planning • Provide technical guidance to staff and coach teams to strengthen mineralogy capability • Support the development of new services, testing methods, and technology platforms • Maintain the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility, and corporate compliance • Work with BD and technical leaders to grow revenue, market share, and service adoption The essentials We’re looking for an influential technical leader who brings: • A tertiary qualification in Geosciences • Experience operating automated mineralogy systems (SEM/MLA), including data interpretation and reporting • Strong understanding of laboratory processes, quality control, and mineralogy applications in the resources sector • Proven leadership capability with the ability to motivate, coach, and influence teams • Commercial acumen, including quoting complex services and managing financial performance • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain strong industry networks • High computer literacy (Microsoft Office) • Commitment to HSE best practice, quality, and continuous improvement Desirable: Python knowledge, change management experience, strong analytical/problem-solving skills, and the ability to identify new business opportunities.
