Our organisation provides many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assist some of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly. Little bit about the role The Soup Van Program provides food and social connection to individuals experiencing or at risk of poverty or homelessness. This position is responsible for the overall leadership and coordination of the Victorian Soup Van operations including staff and teams of volunteers, ensuring that services are delivered throughout Victoria in a safe, timely manner and in line with organisation policies and procedures. The position will be based both in our head office at Kensington. Your responsibilities This is a multi– faceted position responsible for but not limited to People Leadership, including recruitment, development, performance and retention of staff and volunteers; operational safety and risk mitigation in line with organisational policy and procedures; delivery of high quality services and programs through research and community engagement; demonstrable effectiveness of the Program against agreed measures, expenditure, enhanced visibility and delivery based on current and emerging community needs; oversight of facilities, vehicles and equipment across multi-site operations. The position will require travel within metropolitan Melbourne as part of normal duties with occasional travel to regional locations from time through the year. Working hours may vary to meet operational needs. About you You will be a well-established operational manager and people leader with demonstrable experience managing multiple sites; you will have strong relationship building skills to engage community, volunteers and corporate partners. Ideally you will have worked alongside people experiencing disadvantage and marginalisation and your commercial nous will be complemented by strong empathy and understanding of the desired and measurable outcomes that make the service a success.
