ConsultANZ is looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a leading civil engineering contractor based in Auckland, New Zealand. Renowned for delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure projects, our client is preparing for a major upcoming development and is seeking a commercially astute leader to drive and oversee their commercial function. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement commercial strategies that support business growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to diversify and strengthen revenue streams. Establish, monitor, and report on sales targets, financial objectives, and key performance metrics. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and key stakeholders. Lead and manage contract negotiations to achieve favourable commercial outcomes. Analyse market conditions, project data, and financial performance to refine business strategies. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cost management across projects. Work closely with project and executive teams to align commercial objectives with broader company goals. Ensure compliance with all contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements. Manage project forecasting, cost control, financial reporting, and cash flow. Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial team to ensure efficient delivery and high performance. REQUIREMENTS 10 years’ experience within the civil construction or infrastructure sector. Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop teams. Background in Quantity Surveying, commercial management, and cost control. High-level expertise in contract administration and complex commercial negotiations. Demonstrated success in financial project management, including subcontractor management, claims, variations, and progress reporting. Experience using JDE systems highly desirable.
