Job Description Senior Storage Infrastructure Specialist (Dell PowerScale / Isilon) Contract Length: 3 months Location: Canberra / Remote Work Type: Contract Employer: Major International IT Vendor 3-Month Contract | Canberra / Remote| Major Global IT Vendor We’re seeking an experienced Senior Storage Infrastructure Specialist to join one of the world’s leading technology vendors on a 3-month contract engagement. Following recent infrastructure upgrades, you’ll play a pivotal role in optimising a large-scale Dell PowerScale and Isilon environment — ensuring peak performance, scalability, and operational excellence across a petabyte-scale storage platform. This is an opportunity to work with a global IT leader, applying your deep technical expertise to support mission-critical workflows spanning high-throughput ingest, editing, archival, and retrieval operations. What you’ll be doing Conduct a comprehensive technical audit of the current storage environment — documenting architecture, operational health, risks, and strategic recommendations. Develop detailed architecture diagrams covering cluster configuration, tiering, and data services. Create operational runbooks to guide administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Deliver capacity and growth forecasts with actionable scalability recommendations. Lead structured knowledge transfer sessions with ICT staff to ensure sustainable operational continuity. Technical focus Review and optimise cluster configuration across all-flash, archive, and legacy nodes. Analyse and tune PowerScale data services — including SmartPools, SnapshotIQ, SyncIQ, and tiering strategies. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across metadata, I/O, and protocol-level throughput (SMB/NFS). Recommend architecture enhancements to drive performance, utilisation, and reliability. Produce clear, concise technical documentation and maintenance guidance. What you’ll bring Expert hands-on experience with Dell PowerScale and Isilon (OneFS 8.x / 9.x). Proven success in designing, administering, and optimising enterprise-scale storage for high-performance workloads . In-depth understanding of scale-out NAS architecture , storage tiering, and data services. Demonstrated ability to document complex environments and produce operational runbooks. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex findings into actionable insights.
