The Opportunity: The Eltham Cemetery Trust is one of Victoria's oldest cemeteries and has been a pillar for the local community since 1858. Spanning 12 acres, the cemetery has been designed to preserve and reflect the natural environment of Eltham. Our mission is to provide care for our community with compassionate, professional service and operational excellence, offering a serene, naturally beautiful environment for reflection and honouring life. As the Client Services Officer, you will play a key role in supporting bereaved families and the wider community in their interactions with Eltham Cemetery. This includes assisting individuals following a recent loss, maintaining ongoing relationships with families and loved ones in our care, and providing guidance and support for future planning. This position is central to delivering compassionate, professional service in an emotionally sensitive environment. You will manage enquiries, coordinate interment and memorial arrangements, and maintain accurate cemetery records, while providing calm, respectful guidance to people experiencing grief and loss. Our successful candidate will display empathy, emotional resilience, and an ability to work with care and precision in a highly sensitive environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide seamless, and informative customer service to families on the Trust's services, facilities and products. Assist families with interment arrangements, including interment options available, paperwork, the interment process, and memorialisation. Coordinate with multiple stakeholders such as funeral directors, stonemasons for monumental works, and foundries for memorial plaque production. Provide quotes and process bookings for related services. Ensure data accuracy of Trust records, and compliance with the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003. Why you'd be successful? You have a strong ability to engage with, and adapt to stakeholders of varying cultural backgrounds, religions and circumstances. Resilience and empathy are your greatest attributes, and you have a proven track record in similar sensitive domains. You are technologically savvy, an expert in using Microsoft Office and adaptable to changing systems. A knack for design, and great eye for detail.
