Introduction About KMS Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mine is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon and leucoxene which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome. It is a leadership position responsible for the integrity of our financial systems (SAP S/4HANA), the development of a high-performing finance team, and the delivery of critical insights that drive decision-making across our operations. Reporting to the Manager Finance & Commercial, you will take ownership of the financial accounting function, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency while mentoring the Financial Accountant and Payroll Officer. Your Impact You will play a pivotal role in ensuring KMS maintains a robust financial control environment. Your key deliverables will include: Leadership & Mentoring: Manage and develop the Financial Accountant and Payroll Officer, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Financial Integrity: Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring strict adherence to Australian Accounting Standards. Process Optimisation: Champion the use of SAP S/4HANA , driving system improvements to automate workflows and enhance reporting accuracy. Compliance & Treasury: Manage all taxation obligations (BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax, Income Tax) and oversee treasury operations to ensure efficient cash flow management. Complex Analysis: Perform high-level balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis to provide the business with "no-surprise" financial visibility. Skills And Experiences About You To succeed in this role, you must be "hands-on" and enjoy digging into the details while keeping sight of the bigger picture. You bring a strong technical accounting background, ideally gained within the mining or heavy industry sectors. Essential Criteria: Qualifications: CA or CPA qualified (active registration) with a relevant tertiary degree. Experience: 5–7 years in financial accounting within complex environments, with at least 2 years in a leadership/supervisory role . Technical Systems: Advanced proficiency in SAP S/4HANA (FI Module) is highly desirable, along with strong Excel and GL/AR/AP management skills. Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation laws (including FBT & Payroll Tax), and compliance frameworks. Attributes: You are collaborative, resilient, and articulate, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to operational stakeholders.
