This is a Senior Public Policy Manager - Australia & New Zealand role with TikTok based in Sydney, NSW, AU TikTok Role Seniority - senior More about the Senior Public Policy Manager - Australia & New Zealand role at TikTok About the Team The Australia and New Zealand (AUNZ) Public Policy team's work spans across a broad and diverse range of functions and workstreams, including government relations; policy and issue area expertise; risk and issue management and mitigation; outreach and partnerships; and philanthropy. The mission of the AUNZ Public Policy team is to develop and advocate for solutions for pressing tech policy-related issues and to promote a political, legislative, and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for our business. This is a full-time position based in Sydney. - Contribute to the development of public policy and political priorities for TikTok and drive advocacy with relevant Government officials and senior public servants at Federal and State level. - Assess and communicate potential regulatory threats and opportunities, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and policy positions, and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs and key initiatives in concert with TikTok's business objectives. - Arrange, lead, and participate in meetings and briefings for politicians and senior bureaucrats on the views of TikTok and be an effective advocate with public officials. - Advance TikTok's policy positions directly where appropriate and through industry associations/coalitions to enable a transparent and technology informed regulatory environment at a national level for the growth of TikTok. - Work collaboratively and transparently with TikTok business units to ensure alignment between core business priorities and public policy goals. Minimum Qualification(s) - Substantial experience working in the public or private sector on public policy development, preferably in the technology, digital transformation and/or communications area. - Strong teamwork and communication skills: The successful applicant will need to work effectively & collaboratively with other departments, including legal, product teams, and public relations functions, to define needs, alignment and path for collaboration. - Outstanding judgement, diplomacy and advocacy skills, and creativity. - Discipline, self-drive and the ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding and often uncertain environment. - Bachelor's Degree Preferred Qualification(s) - Demonstrated ability to contribute to and lead in the development of public policy initiatives and/or participating in the review of existing public policies. - Experience working with relevant technology policy issues in AUNZ. - A team player, with deep experience working with cross-functional teams, influencing, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to successfully implement programs and initiatives. - An established reputation and network of contacts among key data policy decision-makers across government, civil society, academia and NGOs. - Strong research and analytical skills: the successful applicant will need to take complex situations and effectively communicate their implications for the company, as well as championing the needs and priorities of the public policy function to company leadership.
