Initial Contract Duration: 12 months Extension Term: 12 months (up to 2 extensions) Location: Canberra, ACT (Onsite; some WFH flexibility per policy) Hours: Maximum 40 hours per week Security Clearance: Must hold or obtain NV1 clearance Role Overview: We seek an experienced Infrastructure Linux Engineer to provide engineering and operational support for Linux-based platforms across on-premise and cloud environments. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient Linux systems that meet enterprise standards and business needs. Key Responsibilities: Administer, troubleshoot, and maintain Linux systems in hybrid environments. Ensure high availability, security, and performance of Linux platforms. Plan and execute system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle activities. Develop and maintain automation scripts for provisioning and configuration. Investigate and resolve technical issues, including root cause analysis. Contribute to system design, architecture reviews, and documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver infrastructure solutions. Participate in on-call support as required. Technical Skills Required: Advanced Linux administration and engineering experience. Strong knowledge of virtualization and cloud platforms (AWS or similar). Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible). Familiarity with monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Understanding of security best practices and risk management. Experience with hybrid-cloud architectures and infrastructure design. Requirements Essential Criteria: Extensive experience administering Linux in enterprise environments. Strong Linux automation experience, including scripting and infrastructure-as-code principles. Experience supporting Linux in on-premise and hybrid cloud environments (VM deployments, patching, monitoring, etc.). Strong troubleshooting capability across OS, application, network, and storage layers. Understanding of enterprise storage, backup, and DR processes (for collaboration with storage and backup teams). Experience in complex enterprise environments involving multiple teams and technical domains. Desirable Criteria: Relevant Linux certifications. Experience with container technologies (e.g., Kubernetes). Experience with monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus). Excellent organisational and communication skills.
