About The Role As Head of Special Education Services (HoSES), you will be an active member of the Brightwater State School Leadership team and will play a vital role in improving the educational outcomes of students, developing the quality of teaching and learning, and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers, the community, and stakeholders. You will also collaborate across all phases of our teaching and learning cycle and cultivate strong, positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community. The school structure and processes will ensure you have access to specialist support in respect to leadership, teaching and learning, as well as business activities, including, finance, facilities, and payroll. Your Responsibilities As the Head of Special Education Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Lead the school inclusion journey enacting the vision of every child succeeding through high quality inclusive education across Prep to Year 6. Build the capability of team members to deliver quality teaching practices for all students with disabilities. Lead the collaboration of teaching teams to ensure students are engaged and improving in their learning. Lead identified school-wide systems that ensure students are supported in accordance to relevant legislation and departmental policies – e.g. NCCD. Lead the coordination of and access of departmental support staff and external agencies to the school to maximise student and staff support. Lead NDIS service providers implementing therapies at school processes. Collaborate with the leadership team and student wellbeing teams to facilitate levels of support for all students. Form positive partnerships with parents and carers, DoE and external service providers for the benefit of all students. Lead professional learning for all staff in inclusive education. Enact the explicit improvement agenda of Brightwater State School and State Schooling. Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students with disability. Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of Inclusion to achieve goals.
