Our people work together to help mitigate biosecurity risks, uphold standards for animal welfare and animal management and lead the overall DPI response to biosecurity emergency incidents to achieve outcomes consistent with the Department's strategic direction for leadership in animal welfare, exhibited animal, animal management and animal ethics policy and service delivery. As our Manager Veterinary Operations, you will lead the veterinary operational services that protect and enhance animal biosecurity and welfare in Queensland. As our Manager of the frontline Veterinary Operations, you will: Recruit, onboard and manage staff including allocating work, monitoring performance, developing skills and knowledge under Departmental HR policy and procedures. Use professional veterinary expertise and experience to support the team’s animal disease investigation and surveillance activities and provision of professional advice and analysis to resolve and/or manage animal biosecurity and welfare enquiries and notifications in a timely manner. This includes the capability to undertake these activities independently if required. Support the team’s provision of animal welfare advice including veterinary opinions for animal welfare investigations, including undertaking this activity independently if required. Maintain oversight of biosecurity threats and provide expertise and leadership experience in potential and/or emergent biosecurity incidents. Mandatory qualifications/Licences and registrations It is a mandatory requirement for the Professional Officer in this role to possess an Australian Bachelor degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) or higher in Veterinary Science that is eligible for registration in Queensland. A current ‘C’ class drivers’ licence. Registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Queensland.
