About the Role As an APS Level 6 Team Leader in the People Branch, you will be at the heart of our payroll processing and answering tier one questions - guiding a small team that delivers the first-line responses on payroll conditions that AHL relies on every day. Our Ideal Candidate You will be an experienced team leader with a strong understanding of HR and payroll operations, ideally with in a government or similarly structured environment. You will combine attention to detail with the ability to communicate effective ensuring processes run smoothly and that information is being handed over to subject matter areas for quick and correct resolution. You will be confident in using human resources information management systems such as Aurion and have the ability to provide training and communicate effectively for clear and concise information sharing. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing competing priorities without compromising quality, and you bring a collaborative, solutions-focused approach. The key duties of the position include In line with APS6 work level standards, this role will: Lead and manage the People Branch functions to deliver high-quality, timely, and accurate HR and payroll services within agreed parameters and service standards. Apply knowledge to plan, prioritise, and manage team workflows, ensuring effective ticket management and resolution of payroll related enquiries. Oversee the processing and validation of payroll transactions, including: Uploading variations into Aurion Terminations and exit processing Leave portability checks and other leave entitlements Parental leave calculations and validation from Aurion Insurance statement services Coordination and transfer of personnel files with other government agencies Complex final monies calculations Complex long service leave calculations Provide payroll-related system training and guidance to staff on Aurion functions, including completing timesheets, submitting leave forms, and raising payroll forms. Monitor data integrity in Aurion relating to pays. Track and analyse common queries, working with subject matter expert areas to develop clear and consistent Tier One responses. Draft accurate, professional correspondence and manage warm handovers to specialist areas where appropriate. Provide advice, coaching, and support to team members to build capability and ensure performance standards are met. Contribute to process improvements and change initiatives to enhance HR and payroll service delivery. Assist with other suitable functions as required.
