The key duties of the position include The Role The role of the Procurement and Contracting Officer within the CA33 Interim Battle Management System will take ownership of end-to-end procurement and contract management activities, ensuring compliance with Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) policies and procedures. It is a collaborative role that works with the various CA33 teams, helping them plan and execute their procurement strategies and oversee contract establishment and variations via Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, ensuring effective record keeping and accurate budget management. You will provide expert advice, draft key documentation such as Endorsement to Proceed and Section 23s, and monitor contract performance to ensure deliverable and milestones are met. Success in this position requires exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and negotiation skills, as you will work closely with senior leadership, Defence Finance Group and industry partners. By fostering strong internal and external relationships, you will enable informed decision making that will support the acquisition of critical Digital Command, Control, Communications and Computing (C4) systems. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
