Location: Country Pub – Victorian Goldfields Region Employment Type: Full-time Reports to: Publican / Venue Manager Annual Salary $70K–$90K super (negotiable for experienced candidates) Position Purpose We are seeking a qualified Chef who is passionate about making a positive impact and can consistently deliver high-quality country pub classics that meet customer expectations and reflect the warm, community-focused spirit of a traditional country pub. This hands-on role suits a Chef who values simple, well-executed food, quality ingredients, efficiency, and reliability within a regional hospitality setting. Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and present consistent, high-quality pub classic meals including parmas, steaks, burgers, roasts, and fish and chips Manage kitchen operations across lunch and dinner service, including busy periods Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and compliance with Victorian health regulations Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, rotate stock correctly, and minimise food waste within budget Support menu planning and daily or weekly specials as required Work collaboratively with front-of-house and management to ensure smooth service delivery Provide guidance and support to kitchen hands where applicable Teamwork & Communication Work collaboratively with bar, front-of-house, and management staff Provide guidance to kitchen hands or apprentices (if applicable) Communicate clearly to ensure smooth service delivery Skills & Experience Essential: Applicants must hold permanent residency in Australia . Proven experience as a Chef or Cook in a pub, hotel, or similar venue Strong knowledge of pub-style cooking and traditional Australian classics Ability to work independently in a regional setting Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays Desirable: Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery Experience working in a country or regional pub Knowledge of cost control and stock management Personal Attributes Practical, hands-on approach to cooking Consistent and dependable work ethic Calm under pressure during busy service periods Pride in delivering hearty, well-presented meals Community-minded with a friendly, team-focused attitude Working Conditions Rostered hours including weekends and public holidays What's On Offer?
