Job Description Position Title: APS5 Client Services Officer Employment Type: Labour hire (approx 12 months with potential to extend) Location: Canberra Hourly Pay Rate: $57.50 – $61.44 per hour 12% superannuation Security Clearance/Requirements: Must hold minimum Negative Vetting 1 at time of application Working Arrangements: Full-time, on-site ABOUT THE ROLE An Australian Government department is seeking an experienced Client Services and Administration Officer to support key corporate and client-facing functions within a busy operational environment. This role contributes to the effective delivery of client services by providing high-quality administrative support, responding to enquiries, and coordinating processes in line with policy and procedural requirements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage shared email inboxes and respond to client enquiries via email and telephone, providing accurate policy and procedural advice Receive, review, and process application forms, ensuring completeness and compliance Update and maintain internal systems and records accurately Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to commence, monitor, progress, and finalise administrative processes Coordinate and support processes involving external service providers and other government agencies Process sensitive external checks in accordance with legislative and policy requirements Prepare written documentation and briefs for delegate approval Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures Support Team Leaders with projects related to policy or operational improvements Provide broader assistance across the section as required Undertake other duties as directed by the leadership team SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with sound judgement Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Demonstrated capability to interpret policy and apply it when responding to client enquiries Proactive approach, with the ability to identify efficiencies and contribute positively to team outcomes Desirable: Certificate III or IV in Government (or equivalent experience) Knowledge of the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework Experience processing applications and managing high volumes of enquiries in a client-facing environment ELIGIBILITY Australian citizenship is required Must hold minimum Negative Vetting 1 at time of application PLEASE NOTE: Applications for this role will close on 16 January 2026.
