ConsultANZ is looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join a well-established construction company on a permanent basis in Sydney, NSW. This role plays a key part in promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring full compliance across construction operations, providing practical and proactive HSE support to site and project teams. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure all site activities align with WHS legislation, environmental regulations, and company policies. Review, implement, and continually improve HSE procedures to meet statutory and project requirements. Provide professional advice on incident prevention, workforce wellbeing, and safe systems of work. Monitor subcontractor HSE performance and compliance with approved safety management systems. Implement site-based safety programs and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks to identify hazards and enforce safe practices. Assist with hazard identification, risk assessments, and development of control measures. Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and accurate, timely reporting. Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response and evacuation plans. Provide clear HSEQ feedback, reports, and recommendations to project and senior management teams. Ensure all incidents are reported to the HSE Manager within required timeframes (30 minutes). Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing communication with regulatory authorities. REQUIREMENTS Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years’ experience in an HSE Advisor or similar role. Background in civil construction or mining environments highly regarded. Working knowledge of ICAMS (Incident and Compliance Management System). Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working autonomously or as part of a team. Confident in delegating tasks and ensuring outcomes are delivered efficiently and on time.
