You will work closely with an extensively experienced South Burnett property owner and perform all hands-on duties associated with operating a medium-sized, family-owned beef cattle enterprise. The Location: The farming activity is based out of the Kingaroy region and includes properties geographically spread throughout the South Burnett. Scope of the Farming Activities: The family business has been developed over the last 40 years and includes grazing and beef cattle production (approx. 1200 head) and irrigated forage production. The successful applicant will assist the Property Owner with all areas of farm production and maintenance. The Duties: Daily tasks will be diverse and while not restricted to the following, will include hands-on involvement with: Mustering and yard work (including castration, branding and treatments). Animal husbandry procedures. Tractor and truck operation. Ground preparation, planting, spraying, harvesting and slasher work. Irrigation of forage crops. Fencing repairs and maintenance. Distribution of lick supplements. Basic servicing and maintenance of farm machinery and vehicles. Vegetation control. Monitoring and maintaining stock watering points. The Successful Applicant: The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate: Extensive and current cattle handling and animal husbandry experience. Fencing experience. A proven excellent and self-managed work ethic. A minimum MR driver licence. Experience in the operation of up to 125 HP tractors and farm implements. Mechanical skills for basic servicing and maintenance of general farm machinery and vehicles. The ability to successfully function in diverse locations with limited supervision. A sound level of physical fitness with the ability to complete on-farm tasks. A sound level of written and verbal communication skills. A proven safe work history with the ability to understand and implement safe work principles on the farm. A high level of trustworthiness and a clean criminal history check. Other Requirements - preferred but not essential: Although not essential requirements, preference will be shown to applicants that are also able to offer any of the following: Soft hose irrigator experience. Vegetation control experience. Four-wheeler and motorbike mustering experience. ChemCert accreditation. Experience with biosecurity record keeping.
