Associate Change and Communications Officer (APS6 equivalent) Location: ACT (Hybrid) Contract: ASAP until 31 December 2026 Working Hours: Up to 40 hours per week Security Clearance: Baseline required prior to commencement The Opportunity We are seeking two Associate Change and Communications Officers to support a large-scale regulatory reform program within a fast-paced, complex environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of clear, engaging and accessible communications that help stakeholders understand significant legislative change. This role suits someone who enjoys translating complex or technical information into simple, user-focused content and is comfortable working across multiple channels and audiences. You'll work closely with policy, regulatory and technical subject matter experts, contributing to high-quality communication products that support change, engagement and adoption. What You'll Be Doing Contribute to the planning and delivery of multi-channel communication activities under the guidance of senior team members Prepare clear, accurate and user-focused communication materials aligned with government style guidelines Draft, edit and review a range of content including intranet updates, news items, newsletters, factsheets, flyers, video scripts, presentations and talking points Support stakeholder engagement by coordinating communication activities and maintaining positive working relationships Collaborate across programs and teams to understand user needs and contribute to practical communication solutions Assist with monitoring and evaluating communication activities by gathering feedback and basic performance data Identify opportunities to improve communication processes, clarity and accessibility Support the preparation of governance papers and documentation for reporting and decision-making About the Program This role supports a major reform program established to implement legislative amendments aimed at improving transparency and accountability within a national regulatory framework. The program brings together policy, engagement, design, technology and delivery functions to uplift regulatory capability through new processes, systems, tools and technology. Collaboration across disciplines is a key feature of the work. What You'll Bring Demonstrated experience in communications, media, marketing, change management or PR-related roles Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to produce clear and engaging content for diverse audiences Proven ability to translate complex or technical information into simple, accessible messaging Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve communication objectives Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines Comfort working independently on assigned tasks while contributing positively to a team environment Desirable Experience Tertiary qualifications or substantial experience in communications, media, journalism or a related field Experience working in, or supporting, government or regulatory environments Exposure to translating legislation or policy into publicly accessible materials Experience contributing to high-profile or publicly scrutinised communication products Interest or experience in photography, videography, or use of creative tools such as Canva or video editing software Working Arrangements Hybrid working arrangements will be considered, with a preference for Canberra-based candidates. Onsite and remote work will be determined in consultation with the hiring manager.
