This is not a standard retail Assistant Manager role. This opportunity suits someone who genuinely loves the outdoors and brings structure, calm leadership, and operational strength to a fast-moving retail environment. The business is looking for an Assistant Manager who is passionate about bushwalking, hiking, climbing, canyoning, or adventure travel, and who enjoys leading people just as much as managing stock. That passion matters. It shows up in how teams are coached, how customers are served, and how the store runs day to day. This role plays a key part in keeping the store organised, well-stocked, and customer-ready, while also stepping into leadership on the floor and supporting the Store Manager during peak periods. The Role Lead stock control, inventory accuracy, and back-of-house operations Oversee stock receivals, transfers, returns, and online order fulfilment Maintain a clean, safe, and highly organised stockroom Monitor inventory systems and resolve discrepancies with confidence Support store leadership during peak trade and Store Manager absence Coach and train team members on stock processes and best practice Contribute to smooth store operations and a strong customer experience This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys being across the detail while still inspiring the team on the floor. Ideal Candidate Genuine enthusiasm for outdoor activities such as hiking, bushwalking, climbing, trail running, or adventure travel Proven experience in retail stock control, inventory, or operations Confident using inventory systems and POS platforms Natural people leader: calm, approachable, and supportive Strong organisational skills with a problem-solving mindset Customer-focused, values-driven, and environmentally conscious Reliable, professional, and comfortable with physical retail tasks Experience in outdoor, lifestyle, or technical retail will be highly regarded.
