This is a Director Water Regulation role with Northern Territory Government based in Darwin, NT, AU Northern Territory Government Role Seniority - director More about the Director Water Regulation role at Northern Territory Government Senior Administrative Officer 2 Remuneration Package Range $174,191 $189,700 (including salary $148,302 - $161,628) Water Resources Division Palmerston, Northern Territory One vacancy is available commencing 02/03/2026 The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment’s Water Regulation branch is responsible for the administration of the Northern Territory Water Act 1992 (the Act) which provides for the investigation, allocation, use, control, protection and management of the Territory’s water resource. As the Director Water Regulation, you provide strategic leadership and guidance to the division and the branch responsible for managing the regulatory framework and are the principal source of information and advice, to the Executive Director and the Controller of Water Resources. Your core responsibilities include developing and improving governance arrangements, processes and procedures, managing the branches financial and human resources, and fostering collaborative relationships with government entities and stakeholders. Your demonstrated experience working successfully in a legislative or regulatory environment and knowledge of water resource management, and administrative law will ensure the legislative responsibilities and decision-making processes withstand interrogation. Your highly developed analytical and conceptual skills, and high-level interpersonal, collaboration and influencing skills will be put to good use as you effectively negotiate with a range of audiences and stakeholders from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. A current NT driver’s license or ability to obtain and the capacity and ability to undertake regional and remote travel is essential.
