As a Regional Director Community Development (Top End or Arnhem), your primary objective is to provide leadership and strategic direction to the regional Community Development team. Working in partnership with stakeholders, agencies across all spheres of government and non-government organisations, you will coordinate and implement key Northern Territory Government initiatives, including Local Decision-Making Agreements, Local Government Reform and the Empowering the Bush Framework. Your key duties include providing strategic leadership, ensuring effective coordination, implementation and delivery of community development priorities. Providing high-level strategic advice and policy solutions to community and local government sector support, while maintaining effective networks and partnerships with all levels of government, NGOs, peak bodies, Aboriginal organisations and other key stakeholders. You will also support planning, development, coordination, implementation and reporting of government programs, strategic projects and represent the Department and Northern Territory Government in interagency, whole-of-government, inter-jurisdictional and industry forums, committees and working groups. To meet the challenges of this role, you will demonstrate the ability to lead an effective team to achieve defined outcomes in community development, with directorial level in written, oral and interpersonal skill and the ability to negotiate, collaborate and build sustainable relationships and strategic alliances with internal and external stakeholders. You will have required in developing and implementing regional community development and/or local government programs, initiative and policy solutions. Well-developed cross-cultural awareness and knowledge of issues affecting people in remote and regional area, as well as a sound understanding of local government sector operations and governance processes.
